The only new Winamp development we have seen has been by the Winamp Community Update Project (WACUP) who released Preview version 1. Unfortunately, while Radionomy, the owners of Winamp, said they had big plans for Winamp, no further versions have been released since then. The files work perfectly correctly in my music DAWs, and all my media players (currently Winamp, Traktor 2, and ableton on windows 10, and JetAudio on Android. With the new 2.9x Winamp and some new API calls it cannot be used with older Winamp installations (<2.90). A whole new Winamp is about to enter into a Beta version, and everyone is. In October 2018, after Winamp 5.8 was leaked online, the developers decided to publish the leaked version on their website to allow everyone to use it in all its nostalgic glory.
